Located in Qiaoyang Village, Hongzhiyi Town, Yanhu District, Yuncheng City, JI Qiaohui Embroidery Farmers’ Cooperative mainly deals with all kinds of baby clothes, shoes, hats, mattress for newborn babies and other supplies, and various kinds of embroidery handicrafts.
Located in Qiaoyang Village, Hongzhiyi Town, Yanhu District, Yuncheng City, JI Qiaohui Embroidery Farmers’ Cooperative mainly deals with all kinds of clothes, shoes, hats, mattress for newborn babies and other supplies, and various kinds of embroidery handicrafts. It was officially registered and established on February 19, 2012, with 57 members.
Embroidery on baby clothes has been popular since 513 B.C. in the ancient Jin Dynasty (now the district of southern part of Shanxi province). After thousands of years of inheritance and development, embroidered clothes have become auspicious objects of folk celebrations, with the symbolic meaning of eliminating disasters and praying for peace, symbolizing the healthy growth of children, and with strong folk cultural characteristics.
JI Qiaohui baby clothing embroidery mainly focuses on making baby clothing, shoes, hats, belly covers, pillows, cloaks and baby bedding, with various animal images such as tiger, lion, phoenix and 12 zodiac animals as the model. The Cooperative also produces wedding pillows, dragon and phoenix slippers and other types of embroidery handicrafts. On the basis of inheriting the handicraft skills of the predecessors, after more than 30 years of fine grinding and diligent practice, the Cooperative has made the embroidering work of infant clothing exquisite, vivid, comfortable and practical.
In 2011, representing Qiaoyang’s “One Village, One Product”, JI Qiaohui’s embroidery products went to Taiyuan Agricultural Exhibition for the first time with the Yanhu District Agricultural Committee. On agricultural fair, its embroidery products are quite popular, and are loved by everybody. In 2012, with the help of the branch village committee, the cooperative was established and the trademark "JI Qiaohui” was registered. In the past few years, the Cooperative has participated in many exhibitions of the country, gaining appraisals and sales throughout the country, which has improved its popularity. In 2018, the Cooperative was awarded as “Model Cooperative”, “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Yuncheng City” and “Excellent Industrial Beauty Enterprise” of Yuncheng City. In the Traditional Craft Masters on-site Skills Demonstration of “2019 Yuncheng Industrial Expo”, it won the “Best Style Award” issued by the organizing committee because of its extraordinary skills.
At present, the Cooperative has a bright future and its products are exported to all over the country even the United States and Canada. The establishment of the Cooperative has attracted women who love embroidery and have good skills to join the group, which not only increases the annual output of embroidery products and promotes traditional culture but also increases farmers’ income. We are striving to make baby clothes into handicrafts with local traditional characteristics and become a pillar industry for surrounding women to increase their income.
